Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill
One of these is a website listing scam by Internet Networx. They send solicitations disguised as bills for website listing services. If you receive any mail from Internet Networx asking you to send them a check – throw that mail in the trash where it belongs.
According to information in BBB files, this company has a pattern of complaint regarding invoices being sent to consumers. Specifically, complaints allege the invoices being sent look like they are coming from a government agency or other agencies.
Federal law prohibits any mailing which is “in the form of, and reasonably could be interpreted or construed as, a bill, invoice, or statement of account due” but is, in fact, “a solicitation for the order by the addressee of goods or services,” unless the mailing includes the following notice:
This is a solicitation for the order of goods or services, or both, and not a bill, invoice, or statement of account due. You are under no obligation to make any payments on account of this offer unless you accept this offer.
Federal law requires that this notice (or one like it) be printed on the face of the mailing in “conspicuous and legible type in contrast by typography, layout, or color with other printing on its face.”
You can report scammers like this to the Federal Trade Commission. You can file a claim at reportfraud.ftc.gov/

Thanks! I received one of these today.
Glad I could help!
I received one today. Being the new Accounting Manager at this business, at first I was like, ok, just another bill. Went to put the name in our accounting software an nothing matches (Strike 1). Hmm, that's odd, since it says RENEWAL on the bill. We just changed our website provider (Strike 2). Googled the name and BAM, saw the word "SCAM" on the results!
We can't stop companies like this - all we can do is try and educate people.
Thanks, I received a similar one of those but I run a business. I don't know what the federal law is but I think it only protects consumers and not business holders. But clearly this is a scam and I'm sure more than a few people sign and send in a check to these bozos.
They sent one to our church today! Wanted us to pay $194 for a website name. The invoice implied that we already owned this and the invoice was just an annual payment. Shocking what lazy people will do to scam money.
This is my second year receiving this. Thanks to this post, I have not paid anything to these scammers. Network still up and working.
I received one of these today and when I went on line to check them out I found that they are scammers. Why can't the government stop people like this from operating their "business"? Unless you read the extremely small print on the invoice you will never know that they are scamming you. They need to be shut down and prosecuted. What they are doing is unlawful.
They scammed a church. I'll let God sort this one out.
http://ftc.gov/complaint link does not work.
